hey y'all.. so im back on the saddle.. mastering a good bunch of songs
and have fallen in love with SOFT TUBE GRAND CHANNEL

i'm looking for other fancy plug ins which will help in mastering but always
keeping one eye on mixing which is what i usually do... so i want a dual purpose plug in..

i've read a little 'bout the fancy APHEX VINTAGE units that were used back in the 70s and am very intrigued to see WAVES has a plug in modeled after the original TUBE models...

does anybody have experience in this field? or the waves plug in itself!
i'm all ears!

I used to work with the "real" thing, and I liked it pretty much on special occasions. It did a good job, but you had to be very careful not to overdo it.

When I became a freelancer I got the plugin and was dissapointed. Just couldn't find the right setting on this thing. It's either too little or too much. I hardly use it anymore.

I have tried it and do like it, but I usually get the high-end sparkle I want with a Pultec EQ1A.

ahh, cool thanks for the quick posts.. yeah i can get most of what i need
out of the summit audio grand channel, as its great for driving distortion
in the high end.. really helps to brighten things up just abit..

i'd rather not drop the coin on something that is gonna be hell trying to find
that sweet spot..

nice to hear your perspective Meads, seen as you've worked with the hardware
unit itself...

on another note... i see you've got the OCTOPRE MK II dynamic ALBEE.!

i'd love to hear your thoughts on it... i've already got the uA 4-710d for tube
pre-amps.. i would like to get an inexpensive solid state preamp as an option,
specially once i get my INs count up to 16... i guess this suckah would be great
on drums!?? thanks for your thoughts..
