Default Mbox 2 mini not working with macbook

Hi,

I am a fairly experienced pro tools user helping a friend out with his mbox2 mini pro tools setup on his mac.
Pro tools 7.4 is installed on this computer but when it is launched it tells me it cannot locate digidesign hardware that is plugged in. I have tried various cables to the mbox...have done restarts..still not working..have tried reinstalling pro tools twice..still not working.

Also in the preferences window for mac the digidesign mbox 2 app does not seem to recognise the mbox as being plugged into the mac.

But when i go into system profiler it does show the mbox as viewable on the USB port.

Details of his system are as follows:
2Gh Intel Core 2 Duo
1Gig ram
OSX 10.5.8
Pro tools 7.4.2 (leopard version)

Any help would be appreciated?? thanks

Luke K

Was it working before? Was it working with another interface? Did the OS get updated? I would start with trashing the databases and preferences. If that doesn't help, try reinstalling PT.

yes he had it running before on a computer...not sure if its the same comp.
Not sure about the OS update i will ask but im not sure how that applies so much if the pro tools version is the latest for leopard.
Have tried several re-installs already.

Luke,

PT 7.4.2 is only supported up to OSX 10.5.4, so perhaps that's the issue.

You need PT8 for OSX 10.5.5 - 10.5.8

Otherwise, was the 10.5.8 update done via software updater? This is not recommended. Should always use the combo updater for OSX updates.

Cheers,
claxpro.
