Recent Purchases - what counts? registration date OR actuall date on the bill?

I have the opportunity to buy a second-hand 003R originally bought a little before October the 3rd, but not yet registered.

So, it says purchase AND register. What counts? The purchase date on the bill, or the registration date?

Actually, I have registered products in the past, way after I purchased them (more than a year later), and I've always got the current upgrade offering.
