Hmm...interesting...does this crossgrade deal require that you surrender your Protools license? Or just prove that you already own PT?

I'm not aware of any DAW that hasn't offered a cross grade from Pro Tools for years.

Crossgrades that I know of do not require surrendering a license asset you already have. As to proof of already owning something you're crossgrading from that depends on the company/developer. Digital Performer required an original page (not a copy) from an owner's manual that has a serial number on it for example. Since we no longer get paper manuals with PT I had to use my old Sony Soundforge 8 manual as the crossgrade s/w; same discount price though. And it had to be sent in through snail mail not email.

FWIW using SSD Drives/PCIe/RAID SSD's (Yes they do work with Pro Tools just fine) almost negate the need to RAM Cache these days.
I use a PCI drive of my recording drive and I upgraded my Pro Tools version a while back and I notice my RAM cache defaulted to off. I was running that way for weeks and noticed zero difference without RAM Cache.
