importing video regularly crashes 7.4cs2
Hi
I am having regular crashes when importing video onto the timeline with 7.4cs2. This has been happening ever since the upgrade to 7.4. Usually it happens after one video has already been imported. Sometimes the video gets on the track and the beach ball starts to spin, sometimes it crashes when going through the dialog boxes to import the video. The videos come from all different sources. I have avid engine installed but I am not using it. Re-launching pro tools without a restart of the computer will result in a hard crash and lock out of the entire system. Anyone have any ideas? The computer otherwise works flawlessly. Never any crashes besides this. |

Re: importing video regularly crashes 7.4cs2
We've been seeing this from time to time as well. Importing to the regions bin and then dragging it to the timeline works best. Also make sure its a kosher Quicktime .mov using DV codec. We have found that using MPEG Streamclip to convert videos to the DV codec works better than QT.

Cool, I will try just importing to the region bin and see if things improve. Thanks.

Re: importing video regularly crashes 7.4cs2
I'm still getting crashes even when I put it in the region list. 1 out of every 5 videos I import crashes. It is pretty regular.
I recently imported video and it crashed right after it said that it couldn't import the video because the frame rate mismatch... meaning the actual import isn't making it crash... just the process of importing. Any ideas? |

Re: importing video regularly crashes 7.4cs2
Couple of other things:
-When I re launch the session after the crash, the same video file always imports fine. -If I try to open the most recently saved backup session, pro tools says an error is encountered due to "end of stream". |
