7.1 in PT8, will it be 3/4/1 or 5/2/1 ?
Just wondering, in the upcoming PT8, HD or LE, will there be an option to mix in 7.1 using LCR with 4 surrounds (3/4/1)? Like the setup capability of HD video and supported by many HT receivers since the last few years. Or still only 6.1 max to force dolby-ex/DMU compatibility in theater mixing? (or whatever reason there is)

Yeps I've seen it, PT7 can also mix in 7.1. But that's only using 5 front speakers and 2 rear. Like a SDDS setup. Not the 3 front / 4 rear / 1 sub setup commonly available for home use.
I was kinda hoping the 3/4/1 routing would become available too in PT8, but can't find any info on it... |

Can I ask why you're interested in mixing in 7.1? Are your clients asking for it?
Thanks, Gordon |

Gordon,
YES, my clients are asking for it and 11.1 !! We need to be able to have Pan Laws that will enable us to do what clients are demanding now. Blue Ray is 7.1 (and I don't mean SDDS 7.1)! SDDS is DEAD! 7.1 and beyond is NOW!

Absolutely, several 3/4/1 home theater mixes requested or completed this year so far with increasing interest from clients moving forward.
