Sync DAT or DA88?
Just a general question to all seasoned post people; which would you choose to get first in putting together a post set-up - a sync dat or a sync DA88? (I understand both is the best answer. but which would you purchase first?) Any recommended decks?
Thanks to all replies. [This message has been edited by anders (edited 12-20-99).] |

Re: Sync DAT or DA88?
Hey Anders,
Hard call. Both is the right answer, but I would say that if you are going to be doing layback to video work, most of your video houses will use T/C DATs. Also what format may people bring to you from work on location? I get most of mine on T/C DATs. If you are going to be mixing 5.1 surround for film you need a DA88. The DA88 is a good backup format as well. Good Luck Robert [This message has been edited by Vaughn (edited 12-21-99).]

Re: Sync DAT or DA88?
Yep, Yep! Most of it comes to me on TC DAT. Unless you have a DigiBeta and D5 in house for laybacks, I recommend you take the plunge for the TC DAT first.
