I am just curious as to how many RTAS plugins one can run on a pen.4. I have 512 ram that may be my problem. I can only get up 4 RTAS plugins before I get the -9128 message..

Search on the answerbase http://answerbase.digidesign.com for your problem -9128,
and you'll find there are issues with the d-verb plugin,
as well as other useful information relating to that error.

As for how many plugs, it all depends on your system, how it is configured, which plugs you are using, and how you are using the plugs.
There are many other factors to consider; What version of the software you are running,
what your hardware buffer settings are, what else is on/in the machine etc etc.

My suggestion is to read through the manual (for the software version that you have) that I put in my other post,
( http://www.digidesign.com/support/docs/ if you missed it),
then do a search on this forum for optimization, and you will find a lot of information,
and then repost if you have questions after that.

Make sure DMA is enabled on your hard drives.
You can compare your system speed to other similar systems with a program called Sandra.
Sandra will give you hints on improving performance.
Sandra can be downloaded free off the net.
