Firewire EZ Quest Cobra + 75g. Works well.....but....

To have a rock solid system in ANY recording situation, I highly recommend SCSI...or SAN.

If you follow the rules, everyone will play nicely....simple as that.

Well, SCSI.... Legacy storage....that is why it is still used in server environments. However, the conversion from SCSI to FIBRE CHANNEL is here. There are many SCSI to Fibre devices out there to let people use their old SCSI drives. One of the producers that comes through the studio has the little brother to our big fibre channel network. It gives the same 200/MB per second speed as our system in a 1U enclosure. I don't think his PT rig even comes close to pushing these drives. I know they just finished the HD upgrade and are getting 128 tracks 24/48 on one drive for the whole project. Can't say I've seen a SCSI drive do that with heavy edits and automation...look it up for yourself...it rocks... SNS-the fibre guys...

In my humble option, Scsi is way faster than IDE Firewire Drives...and more reliable... and you dont have to have mutiple drives. I run all my session off of one 36 Gig drive and ive never had any problems...

on the flip side: Scsi is more expensive... and firewire is more portable and convinent
