Re: Help plz! My sessions are not opening
Please start with the steps in the 'General Troubleshooting' thread at the top of this forum, specifically those areas on trashing prefs and database files.

Re: Help plz! My sessions are not opening
try this:
1. make a new session (with the same sample and bit rate as original) 2. "import session data" -- do this slowly... a few tracks a time. verify that the tracks play back. set media options to COPY audio to new session. This is a workaround for a potentially corrupted session file. Another option when importing tracks (if plugins are giving you problems) is to set the import options to only import certain items (exclude items). make sure tempo map is selected for 1st round of import. hope this helps. jr

1- How was this maxtor drive formatted ? (HFS+, fat32, NTFS ?) Some external drive come pre-formatted in FAT 32. If that is the case, you may be in serious trouble if the session is not saved in PC compatible mode. If however the Maxtor drive was MAC formatted then the only constructive sufggestion I can make is to shorten dramatically the path to the files : I have had problems with sessions which had a too long pathname. We all like to keep things tidy by having sessions ordered in subfolders but this has an impact on the path to every audio file ! I noticed that Pro tools 6 seems less tolerant to this than 5.1. Put the session folder directly in the root directory of the drive, rename it eventually with a short name, with no "special" characters and try to open it. Eventually check if some file names are not too long or have again exotic characters : this can happen when you record on a track with a weird or long name. Of course renaming files makes re-opening the session a total drag because of the relinking process, but if it works, it is better than nothing ... good luck

Re: Help plz! My sessions are not opening
go to the last session backup in the 'session backup folder' and open the last session when ordered by date, if that opens then count your lucky stars, and hope that the 'real session' in not too much later.
