Default Two Kinds Of Users

Those who have had hard drive failures, and those who will have hard drive failures.

Back up (image or clone) ALL drives as often as possible.

If you don't have it in at least 3 places... You don't have it!

This has been a public service announcement.

Great article Steve, I hope everyone reads it.

This thread was inspired by a PM I received, where an image would have saved days of grief.

+3 !!!

I keep 2 copies at my studio and a 3rd copy off-site - so I can sleep at night !!! Several years ago, I used to burn data disc backups ---> what a hassle. It's all hard drive backups for me now.

...and for those who will learn the hard way, I highly recommend SpinRite 6 by Steve Gibson. It's a hard drive data recovery utility that needs to be in everyone's audio toolbox.

Does anyone know of a similar program that works native on Macs? With SpinRite one has to move things to a Windows environment (and my old Windows system is kaput).

I backup religiously, as in nightly and before any update/upgrade/install/uninstall. I know the video recommends/uses Paragon, but I can also highly recommend Macrium Reflect. I find it (far) superior to what Acronis has become. YMMV

This should be a sticky, is we've already countless threads out there, had people just done proper back ups, so many of the problems they've experienced would've been so much easier to recover from. I'm anal about this, I have six levels of backup of everything. I have 14 TB of storage connected to my computer. In addition to that I have one complete off-line back up of all of it.
