Default ProTools 9 developing NOISE after 10 hrs work

I've been pulling LONG sesshions often working for 12 hours at a clip. EVERY single session without fail I have seen this issue. After about 10 hours Pro Tools audio playback will either start breaking up in time and with digital distorion or I will get an ascending tearing sound at seemingly random intervals which develops into progressive and regular intervals about one ascension per 3 seconds. I can repeat this issue because I have experienced it every night I've been working.

Solution, restart tools.

Also PT 9.0.1 seems to have bug when importing session data from a session with different I/O, it will crash upon import when it reaches the point at which it reads the I/O from the source session.

Solution, delete prefs and databases and restart. NOTE: this DOESNT always work.

The second one I've seen and I believe has been reported in other threads. The first one I haven't, and I have Pro Tools 9 open and running well over 10 hours per day most days and on multiple rigs. What is your system info? Perhaps you have something in your rig that is overheating after extended hours of use (i.e. your cpu)?

And while I'm not using mine solidly for 10 hours, it stays open, up and running 24/7(except weekends..), and I haven't noticed anything... Granted, its not the same as your use, but still...

If you check the Console logs - what's happening at the time the distortion starts to occur? It's probably a pain to be there at the very moment the distortion starts, but we'll need some clues as to what may be triggering it. I definitely don't see it here and I've got Pro Tools open for well over 10 hours every day.

Just launch the Console application (from Applications>Utilities>Console) and open the tab on the left for 'Files' then click on 'System.log'. You'll see a running itemization of what the system is doing at any given time - something in there may indicate what's causing the problem.

Or, if you can identify the exact moment (within a minute or two) of the distortion starting, you could save the log and email it to me at : vi [at] digidesign [dot] com and I'll take a look to see what may be causing it.

No promises, but we can give it a shot...
