Default Can Someone Explain Different Versions

I swear I did enough due dilligence before posting this but I'm still have no idea what's going on with the different versions (2018/2019/2020)

I pay yearly and I expected to be on the latest non - hd product. I guess that's pro tools ultimate???

Anyways, my version of PT is 2018.12.0 If I"m paying yearly to stay current, why are there so many different higher versions?

Also, the "knowledge base" link in the sticky post for this forum is leading to seagate support:

If you are on an active udpate plan you can choose to update to a current version. Go to your Avid Account and find something called Avid Download Center, it has all version downloads since 12.6 available

Oh wow thanks man. This is crazy though, Awhile back all you had to do was keep up the payments and the updated kept you current.

Paying does not update your software, you obviously need to do it yourself. Paying gives your license the ability to open more recent versions.

Oh, and here is the compatibility info. Read it as the bible. Don't bother installing unsupported configuration, PT version needs to match your OS version.
