lost icon
I am optimising my new Macbook Pro as per the instructions on th Avid video support.Anyway because I'm new to Mac I tried to drag the Macintosh HD icon from Finder to the desktop and it has disappeared. How do I get it back and how do I get it on the desktop? I'm new to Mac. Thanks guys

not exactly sure how to get the icon back, but in the end you'll want to drag it to the dock (standard is at the bottom) and have it there, not on the desktop.

Go to the Finder, Preferences, and then General and Sidebar options.
Back when OS 10.3 came out, I read one of those enormous books "OS X for Dummies". My colleagues thought it wasn't worth their time, but I benefited enormously from it- and this was after having been a Mac fanatic from System 6 through 9.
