Default 'Moving' PT to another PC

Hi all, noob poster here but I have searched the forum for answers to this.
My laptop with PT installed recently died so I wanted to re-download it onto my PC. Unfortunately, because the hard disk is dead, I'm unable to deactivate the software on the laptop itself (as per the instructions here:
http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...ter-to-another), and thus can't install again on the PC.

Is there some way of deactivating the laptop license remotely?

Cheers.

You are looking at instructions for Media Composer. If you have purchased Pro Tools, your authorization exists on your ilok.

Which means you can install Pro Tools on every computer you can get your hands on. Only the computer that has the iLok connected will actually run the software

Good news. I think I'll pull out my old Atari Falcon.

D'oh, sorry all! Thanks for setting me straight :)

I assumed what I did because I'm getting the activation screen "Select License to Activate - You don't have any licenses in your account, or none there have activations available".
I have an iLok activation shown there in the left box but that's it, so I'm not sure where to go from here..

In your first post, you implied that you had Pro Tools running in another laptop computer that you wanted to deactivate. Didn't you have an ilok plugged into a USB port in that computer in order to have Pro Tools running? I'm a bit confused. Do you own an ilok?

Hi Tom, sorry I'm not being very clear. Yes I have an iLok, first used on the laptop and now plugged into my PC. Unfortunately the licensing dialogue won't let me go any further - its two windows 'account licenses' and 'machine licenses' show my iLok license in the former and nothing in the latter. On the main screen I can't click 'next' and a hyperlink below the main text suggests getting a perpetual license.

What actual license do you have for Pro Tools? What Pro Tools version? Is it perpetual? monthly? Annual? Has it expired? Is that license actually on the iLok you have?

Hi Darryl, it's an annual license that expires Jan 2018, first time I've purchased one so definitely on the iLok. It's 12 so I assume that covers 12.1, etc.
