My plan lapses in 15 days. I think I'm going to let it go this time (currently using 2018.10). I don't feel like I should be paying a subscription fee for bug fixes. Have been looking at competing DAW's that are offering cross grade discounts as well, although I have to admit PT has been really solid and stable for me. Probably just run with this latest version and call it good.

The new features are the absence of the bugs fixed!

How is this a surprise? At least 6 months from OS release until that happens. Every year.

My support plan expired in March. I didn't renew this time. I'm stuck at 2018.3, which for the most part has been the most solid version for me up to that point. It does crash if I session import a instrument track but other wise no huge issues, other than the typical PT problems, poor low latency performance, and occasional 9173's (mostly gone since a disabled turbo boost). It will take a lot to make me pay the penalty to get back in. So far they have done nothing that I've missed, other than more bugs, according to most of the post here concerning newer versions. If they ever fix the low latency performance issues, give us ARA2 or something similar that works well, drastically improve the elastic audio algorithms, I will consider renewing, but free VI's are not going to cut it. They're actually not free, being that they will stop working if you don't pony up the $400 every year. No thanks!

$400 a year for this is pretty nonsense. Out of curiosity, I checked out the upgrade cost of HD8 and what it included. $300USD or so... and about 40 new features and 100 bug fixes via numerous point updates over it's two year lifespan. That must make it about 10 times better value for money than the current support plan?

Interestingly, I did notice that it marks the 8th or 9th birthday of the Omni, HD and MADI I/O. Perhaps Avid have something new in the works for early 2019? New ethernet based interfaces perhaps? I think that ranked quite high on the ACA list, and it might incorporate into the whole S6L/EUCON/Ethernet ecosystem that Avid have been building for the last 4 or 5 years. Perhaps NAMM in January? Or AES or NAB in March?

I hope it is something... progressive. Currently there is so little light at the end of the tunnel that Avid can't even be considered a shadow of what Digidesign was.

This release is *slightly* better at lower buffers, and pretty solid on Mojave

This is an important point of that “Free” falcon VI.

Usually the universal law of getting screwed is as soon as the warranty is over the car breaks down, or in this case when
subscription lapses you miss out on all new functions that is released as soon as the subscription lapses.
