Vocals randomly become inaudible

My vocals randomly drop out in the middle of playback. The tracks are not muted anywhere including automation. The tracks are on 'waveform' view and waveform is still visible. This just started happening today. The beat and ad libs keep playing, but the verse tracks become inaudible. I have to close the session and open it back up and then it's fine. I may add a plugin on other tracks and then randomly the verses become inaudible, but not sure if this is related to the issue. It could happen after 5 minutes or 30 minutes..it's very random. What is happening to the verse vocals?

Specs: Pro Tools 12.3/Windows 10/64 bit/6 gb RAM/Roland Duo Capture Ex audio interface

Hi,

If you are shure there isn't any automation on the track it could be the waveform is displayed wrong.
Have you tried creating a new session and importing the vocals into the new session?

Alternatively you could try to open the vocals in a wave editor (e.g audacity).

are you using a plugin in "demo mode" that randomly creates sound drops

Are you using Melodyne on your vocal track by any chance?

I had exactly this on just my vocal track just now.... It can't be chance that it's just vocals that are doing this... The only plugs I have on my vocal channel which I don't have elsewhere in the session are Melodyne and Vocal Rider.

As you say, restarting the session fixes it, but also unfreezing and refreezing also worked for me

Actually, the only other thing I do on a vocal track and nothing else is use Monophonic Elastic Audio....

Could be that..?
