Default Plug-Ins Load Every Time PT8 is Opened

I've been using Pro Tools 8 for about a year now and never had this problem until I had my computer wiped and restored to factory settings by Staples Business Depot, where it was under warranty.

I've installed Pro Tools 8 and updated to 8.0.4 (which I hadn't done before, I was only running 8.0.1). However, every time I turn on my computer (I'm using Windows Vista) and open Pro Tools, it re-loads the plug-ins, taking 4-6 minutes. If I close PT and reopen it without shutting the computer off, it loads quickly and as it used to. It had always loaded extremely fast before, but since coming back from the tech there seems to be a problem.

Once the program is open there are no problems, everything works and runs fine.

Thanks!

Also, I read somewhere that Quicktime helps with this - I've updated it to the latest version and still no luck.

Are you talking about when you boot PT, the plug-in load times are high during the splash screen? I'm pretty sure that depending on how many/what kind of plugs you have, (Waves usually takes a bit to load) it is a normal occurance.

But 4 -6 minutes is crazy.

Are you running old plug ins? Old plugs, especially Waves will add a couple minutes to your start up, but I've never seen 6 full minutes. Have you timed this out, or is it an estimate?

I just timed this and it took 4:46 to open the first time, so it's really closer to 5 minutes. I'm just using the default plug-ins. Before, any time I opened Pro Tools, it was completely up and running within half a minute, so it's unusual for me to wait now. Am I just gonna have to get used to it?

Well if you had the PC restored to "Factory State" then you probably need to re-do the Optimizations for Vista.

They are pretty much the same as the Windows 7 optimizations.
