Syncronizing Two Computers Running PT
I have a G4 with a Digi001 and PTLE 5.0.1. I have an Opcode Studio 128X I used to sequence when I used my PC for audio. I'm having trouble getting rid of it, so I installed PT Free on my old PC. I'd like to do MIDI sequencing on the PC and synchronize it to the G4. I figure this serial port interface will be better and less expensive than any G4-sequencing solution.
I read the PT Reference Guide, but that was of little help to me. I'm not sure which options I have available to me. Most PT-specific info was for using a Mac with OMS and a serial MIDI interface. The question: Which computer should be the master, which the slave? I'd like the G4 to be the master, but is it even possible to send sync signals from the Digi001? More importantly, is this the best solution? For whichever direction you recommend, how do I go about setting it up? I'm not even sure which sync method to use. I'm assuming that I'd need to hook the two computers by two MIDI cables, correct? Should I be using MMC? |
