Default How do I automatically assign inputs and outputs of new tracks

Guys,
When I create a new track (mono, stereo, aux etc) there seems to be no rhyme or reason to the inputs and outputs that are automatically created with the track.
How do I set the default so that all tracks I create have "No Input" and "Mains" as there in/outs?
Thanks
JohnG

you can default new tracks to output to whatever you want in your i/o setup window.

Tried that but does not seem to work.
I have set output to "Mains" but when I create a new track it sets the output to "AuxA".
What gives?
