It would be nice if there was more information from Avid regard what it is about the OS that is causing the performance issues. I realize that this may be a complex issue, but the reality is that both Apple and Microsoft are getting aggressive about inducing people to update to later versions at a faster pace. It's no longer realistic for a DAW vendor to simply throw their hands up and say that an OS revision is not supported nearly six months after its general release. |

Re: 2018.7 So Far...
Technically it was already August in a small part of the world when they released it! I suppose Avid may be in a bit of a bind with OSX 10.13.4+. I would prefer that they just focus nailing down support for 10.14, but a lot of users would probably be left behind if they are running only Mac's that don't support it.

Re: 2018.7 So Far...
I just had the first crash in Pro Tools in a long time with 2018.7. Literally 5 minutes after installing it. Using the new Eucon master fader feature, I assigned the master fader in Pro Tools to the monitor control room knob on my Artist Control and about 5 seconds later it crashed...

Re: 2018.7 So Far...
2018.7 seems more "snappy"... Quicker bounces, renders, session openings, etc...Maybe its my imagination but I'll take it!!

Re: 2018.7 So Far...
I should know better...
Installed 2018.7 (vanilla). AppMan installed, of course. Launched 2018.7. Delayed Crash-O-Matic when AppMan opened. Beachball. Kernel Panic, auto restart. Sent log to Apple. Uninstalled Cloud Services. Thinking it was perhaps an isolated incident, launched 2018.7. Opened a working test session. It played. Opened About ProTools, it scrolled the credits most of the way through the Beta members, then Crashed. Kernel Panic, auto restart. During the black period, fans spun up as high as I've ever heard them, scary loud! Sent log to Apple. Uninstalled AppMan. Launched 2018.7. Played the About ProTools credits, they completed. Went to the internets to check compato for my machine (it's fine). Opened test session, played fine. I've been letting it croizen (loop pb) as I type this. Open half an hour now, nothing unusual. PT 2018.7.0 macOS 10.12.6 5,1 cheese grater, upped from 4,1 32GB 1333 2x 3.33 procs 500GB 850EVO Current installs of 12.8.0, 12.8.3, 2018.3, 2018.4 Command|8
