Default Mbox 2 Pro with Mavericks 10.9.2

Hello all

Upgraded my PT to 11 and MacBookPro to Mavericks, not realizing that Mavericks was now at 10.9.2 - officially unsupported by Pro Tools 11.1.2.

PT and my Mbox Pro 2 function perfectly well, I've not suffered the audio problems (unless you count my terrible musicianship) that other have, however the Mbox or it's drivers cause the MBP to have a 'kernel panic' when waking it from sleep when the Mbox is plugged in. Doesn't happen if the Mbox is unplugged, or it's drivers are uninstalled.

Anyone else suffer this problem? Anyone know how to make Avid aware of this?

Cheers
Ian

Unfortunately Sleep or Hibernate are not supported by Avid: http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...=0&subfilters=

+11111111 NEVER use SleepMode or powersaving modes when using Pro Tools. It will never function as it should and you will have nothing but problems so turn Off the sleep and power saving stuff and start working with a better more stable system

Best Of Luck

Never had a problem with PT 9 or 10 doing this under os x 10.6.8..... Oh well that explains it!

Thanks for your replies everyone.

I have the same issue on 10.9, but with a mac mini:
http://duc.avid.com/showthread.php?t=349638
It definately appears to be the mbox driver that causes the mayhem. I had somehow hoped that it wasn't and that it was something that could be fixed via the next OS update, but now I see that won't solve it.

People in other threads have experienced similar with different mac setups, but they thought it had something to do with TB/FW adapter.

Ooooooh! I have similar issue
I’ve been using Pro-tools 11.0.2 on Mac 10.8.5 with Mbox 2 interface but recently updated to pro-tool 11.1.2.
After constant nagging from Apple to update my Mac, I gave in thinking the update was to OS X 10.9.1, which I understand is compatible with pro-tools version mentioned earlier. I later realized I have updated it to OS X 10.9.2 now I can get no sound at all from my M box 2.
I’m hoping anyone could help, please?

I have tried being to
Set up, I / O settings, clicked on the input button and clicked on the default button. I have done similar at the output button and clicked the default, and then clicked on the okay button for reset but all to no avail
Is there a way of uninstalling the OS X 10.9.2 and re-installing OS X 10.8.5

I’m hoping avid will come out with some solution to this because it looks like the issue is to do with the M box 2 drivers needing updates.

A’Lui

This does not sound like the same problem the OP was talking about. The OP was having a problem with waking from sleep/hibernate.

Is your mac a core 2 duo? If so, please see this KB article:http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/e...OS-X-Mavericks a possible workaround is using a cheap USB hub.

Hello all.
https://discussions.apple.com/thread...rt=60&tstart=0

strangely, this has possibly solved this really irritating 'feature' where my mbox pro 2 crashes if the Mac sleeps.
Don't know if it's solved the dual monitor issue yet though!

I used kext wizard to replace my amd drivers with older ones, now I can use the mbox pro 2 after the Mac sleeps - providing I unplug the mbox before waking the Mac, give it a few seconds to pull itself together then plug the mbox on again.

Hope it works for some one else too!

Ian
