Default Friday = TDM is over
Just heard from very good source that new hardware will be announced Friday and TDM will be discontinued. Supposedly the new system is a huge step forward and is no longer TDM based but is hardware and not just Protools HD 10. Typing this from my phone, so please excuse any mistakes.

hmmm i'm excited and worried at the same time... can this mean my 20k + investment in TDM plugs are now vaporware ?

It looks like there will an announcement of some sort of hardware.. Though what that actually is remains unknown..

Funny thing though. Another 004 thread appeared on GS with the usual carrying on and smack in the middle of it Max Gutnik drops in for nothing more than a "see you at AES fellows" comment..

Who knows.. there may be more than one surprise coming...

I'm excited actually..


But, all that being said, TDM will be around for a long time. It just works.

TDM does "just work". But something else is coming along that is a newer/improved "just works".

I'm actually excited too, I'll be holding onto my HD3 for a while but if what I'm hearing is true... It's a very big jump in tech and quite impressive. Guess we'll know the full picture very soon.

usually not. Digi always offers the same upgrade price from any older version to the new version...unless this time it is going to be different.

I kinda hope they don't keep churning through versions like they've done lately!
If 10 is released very soon, then 8 and 9 have to be the shortest version in AVID history! (I hope its a cheap upgrade, considering how much you pay per month to be current)

Will be glad to see AVID move on from TDM if it happens. Its probably been holding them back from serious software improvements, and I'm amazed it wasn't dumped 5 years ago.
