Avid Control with Dock plugin presets/ background operation

hi, apologies if this is answered elsewhere. I searched but found nothing relevant. I tried!

1) is it correct that if I command-tab to another app -- say Mail or Safari -- while I have a protools session open, that the Control app and the dock become inoperative until I command-tab back to Protools? I find this really inconvenient in some situations. my old command8 worked flawlessly with the Protools windows behind other applications.

2) is it correct that 3rd party plugins like Waves SSLChannel and Massenburg Eq for example aren't fully functional from the Control app (ie you can't adjust hi or lowpass for SSL, you can't solo each band in the Massenburg EQ, you can't load presets for either plug-in)? this seems quite inconvenient as well. perhaps I should have researched the Control app and Dock a little more, but I was hoping to do *everything* on those without clicking around the screen with my mouse anymore. any advice?

1. Lock Pro Tools on the assign tab
2. Look at the Inserts knobs for these controls

I guess for Waves presets, I have to load and then save them one by one to the preset menu so they become available in Avid Control. a little tedious, but workable.
