Default digi 001 and Mac OS memory

Problem: When I launch Pro-tools 5.0 LE my system memory jumps from about 50megs to about 100megs (no other applications are running). Has anyone experienced anything like this and, what can be done about?

Thanks,

System Specs:
G4 450mghz
256megs ram
Mac OS 9.0.4
Pro-tools 5.0 LE (50megs allocated)
Dae (50megs allocated)

Carew,
Go under your Extensions Manager. Is it set to the bare bones minimum per the PTLE manual suggestion?
You may start there. Good luck,
