Default Digi 001 Control Surface.

So has anyone heard of a control surface that is out there?

This is what I have found. Dont know if they work yet!

Mackie:
Baby-Hui
Does the full control surface work?

Emagic:
Control surface?

Yamaha:
O1V?

There is the CM labs MotorMix which was designed for Pro Tools. Mine is for sale. $475, free shipping, free midi cables included. Brand new condition, only four months old. Selling becasue I want an Mbox.

If you're running a PC, you can forget about Logic Control - it only works in HUI emulation mode with a Mac... and you have to own Logic (and have it installed on your Mac) in order for it to work. Trust me, I've owned their stuff for 14 years (since C-Lab Notator) and I really looked into this one hard - but Emagic 1) said no HUI emulation support is forthcoming for PC Logic / Logic Control users and 2) dumped out of PC products anyway. I really wish that Mackie and Digidesign would collaborate and get the new Mackie Control working with ProTools.

There was a large discussion on this board previously including comments from both Digidesign and Mackie about who's responsibility it is to do the required coding. Neither company was willing to put any resources on it last I heard.

I contacted Mackie and tried to get their SDK offering to code it myself but Mackie wanted some sort of proposal from me before they'd really talk to me about it.

There are 3 options to get it to work:
1) Digidesign writes a new MIDI personality for the Mackie Control
2) Mackie writes a HUI emulation mode for their surface (This already pretty much exists from what I've heard about the emagic control on the Mac Side like Phil said above)
3) The DUC does it themselves. (I'm willing to take a stab at it if I had the right resources such as the SDKs etc)

So since I haven't been able to secure the SDK I've been contemplating getting a used Mackie HUI or maybe by the time I make up my mind and have the funds I'll just move from the 001 to a 002.

Who knows. Well enough of my dissertation for the day..

I am pleased to announce that Mackie is currently working on a HUI Implementation and corresponding overlay for the Mackie Control, which would translate the Mackie Control MIDI Map to the HUI Map (and vice versa), and allow users to use Mackie Control with Pro Tools. This technology is planned for introduction at NAMM.
Thanks,
Ed

Hello,
I have a Baby HUI online with my Macintosh Pro Tools setup and it works flawlessly...
I'm sure it's fine with Pro Tools XP as they claim it is.
Riding the faders (and pans) on that puppy to control too loud of guitars and/or other intruments is just beautiful.
Otherwise a guy could buy a 002 and then he's set from the "get go".

Very cool.. NAMM is in January right? I love it when companies actually listen to their customers.

I wonder if they need any beta testers.. hehehe

I have been using the hui with PC for a month and it works great. Had some initial noise problems that were fixed with a Motu midi box.
