Ugh...using Macbook keyboard as controller
OK, I am really frustrated right now I am a very new PT user and I have been messing around all day and STILL no luck.
ALL I want to do is make a basic drum track manually. Like a kick, snare and hi-hat, that's it, but of course this has to be so freaking hard for me to do. I downloaded MidiKeys, Chirp...I can't get the stuff to work, I can't get it to make any sounds when I'm actually clicked on Protools. I have no idea what the hell I am doing with inputs/outputs...can someone spell this out for me? Like I really feel this should be super easy to do. As I said all I want to do is make a basic drum track to play back to. I am just using my laptop right now and don't have a separate MIDI controller. Frustrated... |

Re: Ugh...using Macbook keyboard as controller
I'm assuming you're talking about creating virtual drum tracks, not audio tracks.
Create a stereo Instrument Track. Load the virtual instrument XPand! in the first "Insert" slot. Load a drum kit in XPand! Draw in the notes you want, or record-enable the track and play. See the manual for more details. |

I dont think you can use the laptop's keyboard as a midi input.
You can put the notes in the MIDI editor after you set up properly. |
