I'll give you a quick tip from the General Troubleshooting thread referenced from the Help Us Help You thread that likely will help - right click on Pro Tools and choose 'Run As Administrator'.

Let us know if that, or any of the other steps, help and include complete information as requested in the Help Us Help You thread if you need further assistance.

I see digiTS beat me to it.

I don't have Pro Tools 9 yet. I'm a pathetic individual that waits while others suffer during these 'early' releases... also there is an update to 9.0.1... you don't want that... unless you have a slow internet connection. You can download the 'full' 9.0.1 once you register if you decide you need to start all over.

www.kimber.com (pro USB cable)

View your system restore points. Do you have a pre-Pro Tools restore point? If proceeding, set a restore point now. Name it. Device error.

I am new to W-7 Pro and screwed up, I updated from MS, then updated via a AsusTek download, then in my log I noticed duplicate KBxxxxxxx updates. Then I screwed up once again, changing bios to IDE to see what would happen, rather than AHCI and W-7 automatically installed a driver. No more AHCI. So the restore points do help. Watch for this if you build your own 'puter.

I would remove the m-audio device... personally I would use free Revo uninstaller to hunt down code, then reinstall, right click run as administrator.

See if the above fix helps. Revo uninstaller, free version only works if you have not uninstalled via windows uninstaller, choose a thorough scan, check boxes that have bolded code after them. Delete code. Restart.

Re-install Fast trak Pro driver: right click: 'run as administrator'.

Have you optimized W-7 first? Turn off user account control. No antivirus running. Check hardware DEP settings. System: advanced, only check the box ----> windows services or something like that...not all apps.

I am assuming it is windows 7 Pro or home 64 bit?. Si Sandra lite is a free download at Softpedia.

That is what the other poster meant. The old 'Help Us Help You'... HUHY... but for some reason it is called HOBO... the gals have been left out as usual. But never forgotten!

Caveot: Pro Tools uninstaller leaves leftovers. If you have to remove Pro Tools and try to reinstall as an admin. Try Free Revo uninstaller first: choose a thorough scan, check boxes with code that are in bold after the boxes. Remove. Restart.

If all this fails, go back to a restore point prior to Pro Tools, you should have an automatic one hopefully. Then read stickies here about not plugging in USB device, you don't want windows 7 to install a driver for it.

Decide whether to install off DVD or the previously downloaded full 9.0.1 (not the update)..or if your internet connection is slow, install of DVD see if it works. Basic rule, many have this rule, we suffer when not followed, don't fix it if it ain't broke.

--> read the stickies here about when to plug in your interface. Windows 7 will try to install a generic driver and screw up your Pro Tools install of your audio device.

Apparently the Pro Tools uninstaller does not remove leftovers in registry, as a last resort you should uninstall with Revo, choose Pro Tools, same dance as before. Restart. This time read the stickies here...find out when to plug in your USB device... don't just blindly follow the installer's instructions. Read & learn... there have been problems in the past with the installers. Also gripes about updating when 9.0 gold master worked perfectly fine. Good Luck.

You may not want to update to 9.0.1
