DAE Error 728: MacMini 2012 + 003R

I'm getting DAE Error 728

system specs

MacMini 2012
Digi 003R

I have to use a firewire 800-400 adapter in order to connect the 003R to Macmini.

Daisy chained to 003R is Canopus ADVC110.

Note: with the same connections above using MacMini's I/O, PT 10 runs well. Able to display video via FW out.

That sounds like quite a lot of IO you're trying to get through that firewire bus... Have you tried changing the order of firewire devices plugged in?
I had all sorts of issues with firewire when using a ADVC110 a while back. It seemed quite flakey, especially when other things were on the same port.

there is only 1 firewire port on MacMini.

daisy chaining is supposed to be common for FW devices

Yes, this is true. I know the mini only has one port, but changing the order that the devices are plugged in can sometimes make a difference.
Do both the devices have two firewire ports?
If so, swap the firewire cable coming from the mac from one device to the other, then chain the other off that. It may make a difference... or not...

not a fix for the 003R issue,

but I tried my 002 instead and works like a charm. canopus advc110 daisychained to 002's firewire port
