Default install upgrade from pt 11 to 12.5

Hi -

I plan on upgrading to 12.5 this weekend. Just had a question on procedure with Windows.

1) make a mirror backup of drive(!)
2) I go to add/remove PT 11 in the control panel
3) install 12.5

Is there an option in the installer to keep anything from a previous install? if so, should I?

Thanks

Hi keithl !

When you unistall protools there is a window when you can choose to preserve databases and/or preferences if you will .

My personal advice is to unistall everything and do a new install . Of course after making a backup first !

Agreed^^^^ and as always, DO check the box to also remove the HD Driver(no matter what hardware or PT version you have)

And if you don't have any HD card there is no need to have the HD driver installed at all.

FYI: i know you are on a PC, maybe you can do same thing here .. on a Mac, you can rename PT11 to anything like PT11.3.1 and when you install PT12 you will Still Have PT11 ...

i recommend this to everyone .. in case you have issues in PT12 you can always open PT11

cheers john
