Default HELP!!! records fine, but playback in fast-forward

I just got PT8 and installed it on my MacBook Pro (Snow Leopard). i already downloaded and installed the latest update for snow leopard and that fixed a few issues i was having.

the only remaining problem is that when i record, i will play it back and it will sound like it's in fast forward. i can tell that the "clock" at the top of the edit window is counting slower while recording. then, when i playback at my set tempo, it sounds faster because of the speed change - the clock moves at the set tempo in playback. so, i know WHAT's happening, but i don't know HOW to fix it.

anyone had this problem or have any remedy to fix it? thanks.

Running: ProTools LE with MBox 2 mini
Mac OS X 10.6.2
ProTools 8

Never used it myself, but maybe this feature is your problem:

Quote:
Slow It Down
With Pro Tools, you can play and record at half-speed and then play back at normal speed, similar to a traditional tape deck. You can also reverse the process by recording at normal speed and playing back at half-speed to interesting effect.
from bottom of this page. If noone else chimes in with more knowledge you should be able to find something about it in the manual.

I think there are some misunderstandings going on here.

I think mr. Seaberg is asking if you have some external digital sync clock signal controlling your audio interface.

And what bfx is referring to is a feature in PT that lets you record or playback at half speed:
Shift-spacebar: playback at half speed.
Shift-command-spacebar: record at half speed.

And playing back a half speed recording at normal speed would result in a double speed chipmunk effect.
