Default sample rate problem

Ive been having trouble for the past week with my session playing back a bit faster. I had the 002 on for a couple of hours. Then I notice that the session was playing back a little faster. I save everything and check the internal clock and it was at the correct sample rate 44.1. So I created a new session at 48 imported the session data and everything was alot faster. So I close that session and opened the session I was working on at 44.1 and everything was playing back fine for less that a minute. It gave me an error 6088 to turn up the buffer rate and I did to 1024. When I did that I notice it was faster again. I did that process like four or five times and I would get the same resulted. It was playing back normally on SAT but I didn't have the 002 on for a long time. Today everything is playing back normally but I had the 002 on for 15 minutes. I know it the 002 sample rate. I dont know if the 002 can over heat. But everytime I have the 002 on for more than a couple of hours this happens. Can someone suggest a solution. I had the 002 for a couple of years. I want to know if this happen to any one else out there.

Thanks John
