Correct, only the 16x series has the Big Ben clock in it. And the new Symphony IO has a new improved version of that.

Anyone else worried that since they discontinued the product that drivers for new OS's (like 10.7) wont happen? I was going to use lightbridge for stemming from Logic to protools, but dont have a proper protools machine yet; was going to use my macbook and lightbridge for now, but dont want to be stuck if/when I get a new machine.

Has M-audio / Avid been good about keeping their drivers up to date on discontinued products? Anyone know if they plan on releasing a new replacement device? This sucker seemed to be PERFECT for my needs and I'm surprised to see it discontinued!

I am not really concerned. Either I won't upgrade my software or I will upgrade the interface. If you wait for a piece of gear that will be supported in perpetuity, you will wait a long time.

It is a $300-ish piece of gear. That is not going to make or break my budget.

Don't think Duet has a Big Ben either ...not for $300, etc.
So the Lightbridge can connect 4x8ch mic pre's?

How are you getting the Lightpipe from its out's into the Mac?

It is a FireWire interface.

Firewire does that trick with the Lightbridge. Great piece. It still works fine for me in PT9. As to the clock -- the DUET has the exact same clock in it as the LUCID Genx6.. which is the same 'chip' as the BigBen has. It's like a 'little cousin' to the BigBen -- but the 'chip' is the same.

Lightbridge Discontinued!
GOOD!!!!

This was flat out the most poorly made interface I have ever bought. How they could sell something that includes a 6 pin firewire cable and a power supply, but NO documentation that warns you to NOT use the power supply at the same time as a 6 pin firewire cable because it will ruin the unit.....

Major, major design flaw that never should have made it to market.

Good riddance.

Ruin the unit???? I have ONLY and EVER used it in a Rack, w/power supply plugged in, and using 6 pin FW Cable. Unit has worked flawlessly for at least a year now in that configuration. Truly have NO idea what you're talking about. Do they even sell a 4pin FireWire cable anymore?

It is actually a pretty common issue with some bus-power capable FireWire hardware. However, they should have put that information in the initial documentation. I have a newer version and it does indeed have those instructions (not to plug in both) as well as a big yellow insert that says the same.
