Default Building a computer for ptle? Possible good deal on WD hard drives

I just bought an 80 gig WD drive with the 8 mb cache, and got a $30 rebate (mail-in, blah) as well as a $30 (mail-in, blah) rebate for a Best Buy gift card. So, the drive's net cost was $58. That's pretty good if you're going for 80gb, and can forsee yourself needing something for around $30 from Best Buy. Thought I'd mention it in case anyone else is finally taking the plunge on an Allen system.

paul

ps. Stoked on the pending 6.1 release! Now if I could just get the system set up and the Waves plugs transfered...

A word about mail-in rebates...

Due to my job, I have seen lots of rebates denied due some trivial crap.

Make copies of everything you mail in, just in case they claim you never sent it in.

Follow the instructions to the letter! If it says black ink & all caps, do it!

bottom line, dont give them a reason to deny your rebate.

Another word on mail-in rebates:

I am the king of mail in rebates,
I have never, ever, not once had a situation where I had been denied my rebate.
A few times have even sent them in when they were clearly past date and I got my check in the mail.

Ok, I know this isn't the cheap bastard user conference
