Default Neve 1073 DPA questions.

I am on the lookout for a character preamp for Drum OH and some Acoustic and vocal recordings.

Do you think a neve 1073DPA is a worthy choice?

Worthy? Yes(but a tad pricey) First off, do you need the digital connections? If not, there are several Neve clones that will work as well(Vintech 273 is worth a look). Or a pair of Vintech 573 preamps in a lunchbox is still way cheaper. FWIW, I like the Focusrite ISA-428 for overheads, ride and hat in my rig(not as much character as a 1073, but solid performance at less than half the DPA unit). If you go that route, do go for the newer Mk II version as the older one(with the VU meters) has some issues(the old PSU makes a lot of heat).

If you do need the digital connection, then maybe check out the API A2D

Thanks

The DPA is not digital, The DPD is...

TBH I have been looking at the Lunchbox route...Plus I have now seen the Warm audio WA273 that looks interesting.
