Default Can old LE sessions open in Protools 8?

Hi, I'm sure it's been answered somewhere but I can't find it so......
I've got some old Protools sessions that I recorded at an outside studio years ago in Protools LE 6.something. They now reside on an external hard drive. I am preparing to buy a new computer and interface and need to know if I'm going to be able to open up and work on these sessions in the latest version of either Protools 8 M powered or Protools LE 8. I'm getting a new iMac and either the M-Box Pro with LE or the M-Audio Profire 610 with M-Powered. I've heard the term "pts. extension" but have no clue what that means or how it relates. Any help is very much appreciated.

Yes it will open it yet save it as a .pts file. The older sessions had the extension .ptf, if I remember.

Thanks. Sounds simple enough. There's gotta be a catch. (Hopefully not.)
.....any opinions out there on M Box pro vs. the 610?

I haven't a/b'd the Profire 610 that I have with an M-Box 2 Pro.... but the general consensus is that the Profire has better, or more updated conversion & pre-amps.
My Profire 610 works great & sounds really good on it's own. Using external preamps & good mics, you could certainly make great recordings- but of course you could do that with the mBox as well.

I appreciate that....I'm leaning towards the 610 more and more. M-Powered Protools is solid? Has anyone ever recorded more than 2 mics at a time with it? I was thinking of using an external stereo pre (with two mics) to go into the two 1/4" jacks and then 2 more mics into the front to get some drums down. The I/O is really the only limitation that I can see with the 610.

The catch is the plugins you thought you'd have forever are now a memory. So long Echo Farm and Kantos and NuVerb (2K for that one) and many more....
