That's the thing I've felt was the most instantly beneficial when I've used one.

I would first think that the plug-in parameters are not multi-touch... But are they by any chance?

I'm a cynic of touch screens. The one I tried a ways back had my forearms feeling like I was lifting gallon paint cans 45 minutes in. Slate says his angle is different and avoids that feeling. I'll see. For $999 it's worth a demo.

I give it to guys like Slate and UBK. They are in the trenches and try to make products for other guys in the trenches.

I felt this way on the big Slate, but the smaller one is not near as bad. Re the power, I am pretty sure they are all switching power bricks like most laptop computers

Our design philosophy with S6 and S3/PT Control is to offer the best of both worlds:

1. Dedicated Faders, Knobs and Switches that allow you to feel and grab ahold of traditional mix control and make/feel creative moves. Mick Guzauski, Craig Bauer and more have talked about why this is key to their mixes if you've watched any of the recent videos/webinars. Paraphrasing Mick - he believes it's what people are more referring to when the say a console mix sounds better than a (mouse mixed) ITB mix.

2. The Best of Touch Screen technology - especially for quickly scrolling and navigating big sessions with tons of tracks with color coded track tiles and universe bar (for instance). Drag select tracks for grouping, etc… Color Coded Soft Keys, named Layout recalls…

My experience watching demos of Touch Screen only solutions - (dating back to the original 'Glass Console' in the late 90's) is what people have pointed out already about reach, angles, ergonomics - but also that it seems to take multiple attempts to actually select the knob or fader and then you are visually confirming that you have in fact selected it and are moving it. All of which seems to be distracting from what you are trying to do - focus on listening/mixing/being creative.

Many mixers have responded positively to getting the Pro Tools computer screen further away from them and focusing more on the tactile surface to see into their mix and just mix.

Hope to see you all at AES in NY and talk more about better integrating both technologies! Message me if you need a pass...
