Help Please - Registration issue

Hi,

I purchased a copy of ProTools 10 Student edition.
I contacted my University before purchasing and was told that as an Alumni of the university (recent graduate as of a few months ago) that they thought I would still be eligible for registration. I then went ahead with the purchase and came to the registration but realised my student card is now out of date and so probably couldn't be used as proof, i've asked the Uni again but they seem unsure now. Now I only have 30 days to get this sorted before my registration is blocked, so should I still try to get it sorted out or should I just return the product and get a refund.
