OT: American Idol theme song

Hey guys,

Every time American Idol goes to commercial, the music theme being played always sounds very familiar to me. Am I losing my mind, or is it a version of the demo session that shipped out with Pro Tools LE 5.1 software ? ...or is my sonic integrity fried ?

As far as the show goes, I personally think Fantasia's voice is a little too midrangey for my personal taste, but last night she nailed her last two performances, especially the gospel-esque tune. I felt bad when the 16 year old blonde(I forgot her name), when she lost pitch last night, but in a day of autotune, and all the fun stuff we can do in the studio, I think the public fails to realize how extremely difficult it is to consistentlly sing like a true pro.

I was just thinking about the American Idol theme song the other day. Since I am a Taxi member and have had my songs pitched to TV shows, I was thinking "I sure wish I wrote the theme songs to American Idol and Friends!". Can you imagine how much royalties you'd be making off of Friends? I bet you wouldn't have to work!

After Jasmine got booted off AI, I sort of lost interest. She's from my little town in Hawaii. She sings a few cents sharp here and there, but like you said, who really DOES sing in tune? I've had the fortune to work with a lot of great singers, and every single one of them has their bad moments.

The song I'll be There For You came out here way before Friends even existed.

Don't know if it was a hit anywhere else but I remember they played it to death on commercial radio here in Oz.

Then when Friends came out early 90s I noticed that they'd remixed it so that the original main melody line "I'll be there for you" became the harmony and the harmony became the prominent main melody line.
