35 tracks or so should be no problem with hd 2. tl space is quite the hog on HD as well.

Where would you say is the average high water mark for HD2? 48 tracks?

Use TL Space on a Aux as RTAS all the time and have no HOG issues at all. That is one bundle that there was NO reason to spend 1K on to upgrade.

That would be the least of concerns...

and here lies the problem............. also why i suggested a native I7 build with the super duper toolkit

we spend so much on our hd systems so we can run tdm plug ins(voice count, latency, etc.) but since they are so (some ) hoggish, rtas versions are suggested as the better choice.

some waves gtr presets will not open in TDM. but, open them as rtas, watch your cpu meter not even blink.

high water mark as in highest tracks with hd 2? i don't remember but i think you'll be fine with your said workflow.remember, almost everything you do in HD takes a chips worth of dsp

Its not really a "Problem" in a sense. Reverb is latency. When you only have a instance on a AUX (TL Space) and send to that the latency is pretty much none existent and when you have Delay Comp turned on it is not evident at all. Never had a issue nor need to force a upgrade for TL Space to TDM. I use alot of outboard effects though so that may be why too. Hell, I even have Sound Toys in RTAS with no issues at all.

The other bundles (EQ, COMPS) are TDM for sure.

Best,

Doc
