Default Lush Female Vox

Can anybody point me to any plugins or techniques that will help me get lush, full sounding (jazzish) female vocal tracks? Thanks.

Damn! I wish it were that easy for me. Anybody know of any EQ settings that might help?

What are some "Neve-esq" pre's? I can't afford the real deal. I'm going to try that when I get home thanks! How would I detune a track BTW??

try the waves c4 compressor right on the vox. Sometimes you can get great results right from the default setting without even tweaking a thing. Seems to really bring out a female voice well. Its worth a try.

Neve-esque are basically updated but very similar Neve designs. The Vintech stuff (Dual 72, the X73 which are 1272 and 1073 designs), Brent Averill makes 1272's and 1073's as well, The Great River NV series. There's more, but that should be a start.

There are tons of different mic pres out there.

The FMR RNP is a really cool pre amp and is only $475.
It's colored (Iron Sound), but I don't think it's "Neve-esque"

Thanks fellas! Did the C4 compressor come with the renaissance bundle? I'm going to look into those pre's. That might be my next purchase, and a mic! I don't even want to say what kind of mic I have for fear of getting cursed out.

Hookiefree,

I wouldn't worry about people cursing you out. If they do.. that's fine.. I've heard many recordings from studios that have what is considered fantastic gear that sounded like crap and I've heard some recordings from studios with budget gear that sounded amazing. It's all about how you use it. More importantly the song and performance itself.

There are some great mics and compressors/pres that may very well get you what you are looking for.

The C4 doesn't come with the Ren bundle. It's in the Gold and Platinum bundles. You might be able to get it as a standalone plug in as well. You can try that, but I think you'd be better off getting the airy/thick sound from the source..

Hookiefree,

I just noticed that you are in the DC area.. Glad to see that there's more DUC'ers from this area.
