Default macbookpro-expresscard slot

hello,

i would like to know if we can use the expresscard slot for either ...

1) 002R interface ala expresscard to firewire with drives on the macbookpro's firewire
2) firewire 800 or 400 drive ala expresscard to firewire with the 002R on the macbookpro's firewire

if either of these do not work ... i guess i would have to go the mbox route ..

thank you

cheers

john

I understood what you were asking. I was looking for more information about what your ultimate goal was, beyond the obvious...

....but nevermind.

there is no more information needed to answer this post .. you either know if either of the two senarios work or you do not .. if you knew you would say you do ... if you do not, you should not answer the post with what are you trying to do or what is your ultimate goal beyond the obvious .. there is nothing beyond the obvious ..

i know you mean well but in this case i need an answer not a tennis match ...

again i thank you for looking and cheers ...

:)

You can use the SIIG FW400 express firewire card for the drive, connecting the 002 direct to the mac. Theres also no reason why you cannot chain the two firewire devices together, thats what us Macbook users do.

While it's not technically supported, I can confirm that the SIIG FW400 expresscard works with either the drive or interface attached to it (personally I have the drives attached.).

One kind of stupid thing about the card that they don't tell you in the specs and don't make very clear anywhere is that, if you want to power anything via FW bus power (like an MBox 2 Pro, for instance), you'll need the separate power adapter to connect to the card.

This is the card:

And this is the power supply:
