control 24 headphones and tlk back wont work

hi ive got the control 24 and the digi 002 and cant get phones or tlk back to work.all i hear is static.going out of the oo2 my phones work but hooking out of the control 24 they dont.listenback is not a priority i just want the phones and talk back to work for me.thx

how are you hooking it up? I have no idea what to suggest because I have no idea what you've tried. Where are you plugging everything in?

im just using the headphones on the 002 rack now but i want to use the tlk back and headphones on the control 24.the manual on the control 24 doesnt go in great detail.almost no detail on it.do i use the aux inputs and outputs on the back of the c0ontrol 24?i know i have to have a special cable for the monitors but im content monitoring out of the rack now.just want headphones and tlk back.ive got a digimax lt with a snake going into it and another snake going into the 002 rack.the mics go into the control 24 thats about it.

If you're monitoring with Analog 1-2, you'll probably want to use another set of outputs. Say Analog 3-4. Go out Analog 3-4 into C24 Aux inupt. From aux output to the headphone amp. Make sure you turn up the aux knob on the monitor section and make sure the "monitor to aux" button is off.

You don't really have to have a special cable for the monitor section, just a d-sub on one end. They aren't that hard to make and you only have to wire 18 of the 25 pins (for Pro Tools Sources 1, 2, and 3). The pinouts are in the downloadable pdf.

thx.i ordered two more cables from sweetwater.to use my tlk back and monitors section of the control 24.they told me i needed them to use the tlk back and monitor section on it.i hope i am not using up 2 of my tracks just for this.i mean line 3and4 are part of my drum kit.i guess i can wait until the drums are put down then turn on the tlkback.i dont know.not really ideal but oh well.

you're using lines 3 and 4 output for your drum kit? you could split Analog 1 and 2 output but that doesn't allow you to have a separate headphone mix.

It doesn't use 2 tracks, but, a separate headphone mix will use 2 additional outputs. This is true though whether you use the C24 or not.

You don't need a special cable for the talkback. Its just TRS 1/4 inch in and out.

well i got my cables in and hooked it up now tech support went home at sweetwater so im here.now plugging just my headphones in the headphone out on the front of the con 24 ,i get a sterio mix but the tlkback feature dont work unless its running out of the aux out left and right.now when i run out aux left and right how come when i pan the song hard left or right its still music in both headphones.how do i get a sterio output into a single input headphone amp from the auxilary outs so i can use the tlk back feature???


ive tried two guitar cables running into an adapter that turns it into sterio plugged into the headphone amp.

at least i think its a sterio adapter bcs it has two black lines on the male input. plz help fast lol

that is actually correct. the headphone jack on the front will only give you what you're monitoring on the speakers.

to get the talkback you need to take a stereo out into the aux input, then aux output into the headphone amp. make sure the monitor to aux button is off.

I don't understand why you're trying to merge 2 signals into one. Is your headphone amp mono? panning won't matter if you merge the signal.

no my headphone amp is stereo it just takes one input so it has to be a stereo cable.on the aux for the tlk back do i go out of my oo2 rack into the aux in on the contr 24?then aux out to my head amp?

If you want them to hear the same thing you're hearing, just hit the monitor to aux button. You'll still have to run the aux output to the headphone amp. If you want a separate headphone mix (which I recommend) pick an output pair and run out of the 002 into the Aux in of the C24 (I usually use Analog 3-4), then Aux out to the headphone amp.

My reasoning for 3-4: If you use Analog 3-4 you can monitor the headphone mix by just switching the Pro Tools sources in to the second source.

Two mono unbalanced signals to a single stereo is easy, but I'm not exactly sure how to combine the 2 balanced mono (aux left and right) into a single stereo input. I would guess its along the same lines of wiring. If you don't make your own cables, I guess it doesn't matter...you'd just need an adapter.
