Default Conform/Reconform

Hi all,
I am posting my second feature film in about 3 weeks and will receive an oaf/omf from the editor who will be cutting in Avid using mix/guide tracks from the polywav production audio. I know I can "expand tracks"...etc to conform the sound edit. What I would like to know/ask is there a good software solution to do the same and quicker? And what about those pesky edit changes that sneak up on you. Is there a similar solution for that? All suggestions gratefully received.
Nick

For recuts (EDL change lists conforms) I use Confomilizer by The Cargo Cult.
They have also perfect customer support.

Default Re: Conform/Reconform

I use Ediload AND conformalizer.

Ediload:
- Sometimes I get a better analysis and more power w/ ediload
- I love being able to tweeze and edit EDLs.
- So many great utility features, for instance generating guide sessions for field recorder workflow matching has been a godsend at times.
- love love love cut-guides, I use them almost always now.
- also love scene guides, when I can make them work. (which has to do w/ what metadata I can get from editorial, i.e. only on more organized narrative style projects. Ediload can make it work if the data is there somehow.)

Conformalizer:
- so nice to drop XMLs in it. XMLs are more foolproof for less technical editors to export, and they're often doing it for color sessions anyway.
- so great to be able to load old and new picture, and step thru the change EDL and feel confident that things are right.
- I find the conforming engine more robust. Often I make a change EDL with Ediload, then execute the conform in Conformalizer.

Support on both of these programs is just absolutely stellar and pro...

Both aforementioned programs if you can swing it! But Ediload does offer a rental which is nice if you want to try it for more than a demo.
