Default Native card Firmware upgrade. Is it backward compatible?

I am running a duel boot on my mac, one drive is Pro Tools 9 HD, everything is fine. The other has Mountain Lion and we are running Logic. Logic has worked fine with the 192 on the V9 boot, but now that we are on mt lion, I need to use version 10 install for core audio etc. Its asking me to upgrade the firmware on the native card. I am worried that if I do this, then, it won't be working on my v9 boot. Does anyone know if this is true?

Thanks
