Default Help me make sense of these ADC readings ...

I am wondering if ADC works correctly in my system. This screenshot is from a recent session. It shows only the fx aux tracks.

The session delay seems to be 5874 samples (not sure how this value comes about). All tracks in the session that cause no delay are shifted by 5874 samples, including the fx track "room". Tracks that cause a delay should be shifted by 5874 minus the plugin delay, right? This is the case with fx tracks "marimba dly" and "marimba dly 2" which both have the Echoboy plugin that causes 32 samples of delay. All audio tracks (not on the screenshot) are correctly delay-compensated according to this rule.

But what's with the remaining fx tracks? For example, the first one ("drum room") causes a delay of 1143 samples and is shifted by another 3612 samples. That totals 4755 samples. Then there's the track "LV Hall" which causes 1172 samples of delay and is not compensated further at all. I can't make sense of these ADC values. Can anyone else?

Certainly looks odd to me I see you are sending one AUX(LV Delay) to another AUX and that may be the issue. Remove the send to 9-10 and see if anything changes

Doing that doesn't change much except the session delay is now 5842 samples (see below). Besides, sending audio from one fx channel to another one is really nothing that Pro Tools shouldn't be able to cope with.

Just to be clear: I don't hear anything is this session that doesn't sound right. I'd just like to understand what exactly PT does with those tracks. And I am a bit worried that something might be off, since those numbers don't make sense to me.

Dang! I'm as confused as you on this. At the end of the day, if it sounds good, that should be enough(but I feel your pain). Maybe open a support ticket with UA? Also, not that I expect anything to change, but try moving stuff up to the top inserts(when things that make sense don't work, you can always start trying things that DON'T make sense)

Some people report that changing their buffer size under the audio engine settings and then changing it back does some kind of reset. You may want to just try that if you haven't, as well as closing and re-opening or restarting your system when you make changes to the audio engine, just to ensure they are taking effect and see if it makes any difference in your analysis of the delay values.

Delay compensation is broken. Been in touch with AVID. Hopefully it will be fixed soon!

Delay Compensation is broken? Could this DAW possibly be more problematic?

I am also not on the "its broken" bandwagon. It tends to work fine here 99% of the time. The 1% where I have an issue, it has always been an AUX send that has no destination(but it is a very different issue than this one and is obviously audible)

Are these all routings you have in your mixer? The delay comes somewhere, but it's hard to see where.
