Question Command D function

Did a drum session on a PT 6.9.1 HD2 system in the studio. (G5, OSX.3.8)

Used the Click generator plugin.

Am at home consolidating and sorting out the files on a PT 7.4 LE MBox system. (iBook G4, OSX.4.11)

As the tracks are going to be mixed on a PC running Nuendo, I am 'bouncing down' the click track as an audio file.

The bounced file was not quite matched up with the Grid, so I cut it up to make a 16th of a bar loop (a beat) and thought I could just Command D (Duplicate) this region to provide an audio track of the click throughout the length of the song.

However, even though the loop is exactly 1 beat long, (1|0|0|0), every 19th duplicate is (0|0|0|959) long.

Any suggestions as to why this might be happening?

So what then happens is that the click loop after that slightly shorter beat is starting slightly earlier than the grid line and as the song progresses, the bounced click track moves slightly more out of alignment with the grid.

Obviously I could just do it in batches of 18 duplicates of the loop and paste in the 19th on the grid, but as I have about 2 hours of takes to sort through (11 songs, different tempo for each, multiple takes), it would begin to do my head in after a while.

It also does the same thing when using the Repeat... function.

I am confused.

Default Re: Command D function

That's why there's a loop region function. Don't use duplicate/repeat for what you're trying to do, or you'll get the results you did.
