PT 11 prob the current play back engine does not support a sample rate of...

I'm trying to open a file made in PT 10.
Each time I get "The current play back engine does not support a sample rate of 44.1 kHz"
Updated 11Racks drivers and switched from 44.1 to 48 but then get "The current play back engine does not support a sample rate of 48 kHz"
Clock source is set to internal.
File opens in PT 10.
Song is done in 48 kHz.
What is I doing wrong?

Create a new session in 48 open up that session close it and then open up your previous session the song that you already recorded

See what happens

Hi, Let me try to help, Run Pro Tools, if the session selector open at start, close and do not open any session, then go the Playback engine and select your Audio Interface. when I get this error message, is when Pro Tools grab any audio device thats not support Pro Tools, Like on Windows 8, Generic audio device.

maestro!!...thanks so much for this workaround. i'd been battling this issue for about 5 years with no solutions. finally, about a year ago, i found a solution that kind of worked. that being said i've been wanting to upgrade to my new interface for awhile but couldn't find a solution which would work with the new interface. while your workaround is not a solution to this (whichever device is responsible) it has probably saved lives and freed me from the frequent crazed rages the issue has inflicted upon me. can't thank you enough for posting this many moons ago.

Make sure all Windows sounds and other audio does NOT use the interface used for Pro Tools. Default the onboard soundcard and keep the PT interface only for PT.

My 10.3 won't even install but I have the same problem in 11.3 changing PC audio doesn't not work. Can't create a new session sample of anything because the sample box is ghosted out grey. Can't open any previous
PT sessions as the sample error message pops up. I guess it's time to call Avid tech support.....
