PT 10.3.7 crashing CONSTANTLY!

this version is terrible...
PT is crashing all the time (about every other time I open a project and almost every time I change the playback engine)....
usually the crash is so severe that I get a "Kernel Panic Notice" when I restart PT, so I have to emergency-shut-down my computer every few minutes when going between PT projects.

I've already trashed preferences etc of course, this version of PT is just unusable.

(Mac Pro, OSX 10.7.5, Pro Tools HD3 Accel v10.3.7).

Anyone else having stability issues with this version?

Check all your plugins are up to date! this is the most common cause.

If you don't know what plugin might cause the trouble, then move them all to the unused plugins folder and see if the Protools software itself is causing the trouble. But I'm pretty sure you have zero problems with zero plugins. Crizdee got that right.

Once you have verified that PT without plugins is not causing trouble, you can keep adding plugins to the system. Once you face trouble you should know which one it is.

Hi I'm wondering if you found a work around for this. I am having a similar issue of PT 10.3.7 crashing often.

It does not matter if you think plugins are needed (what you need first is for Pro Tools not to crash) or they are up to date or not. What you need to do is either absolutely exclude all plugins as the cause here or find the bad one (or more). Start by removing them all from Pro Tools and see if it still crashes or not. If it looks like a plugin problem track it down to the exact plugin(s) causing the problem and contact that vendor for help/support.

Hi,

Any crash logs? User/Library/Logs/Crash Reporter is where they are stored.

the thread that caused the crash will be identified and can often give clues to the cause.

Sad to say that even up to date plugins can cause issues.
