Errors when using IK plugs
My setup: Macbook Pro 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo; 2GB RAM; LE 7.4.2; MBox
I'm encountering frequent errors when using Amplitube2 and AmpegSVX plug-ins. Errors #6101 (CPU Overload), #6105 (CPU holding off USB audio), #9128 (Running out of CPU Power). Gets practically unusable when I put any FX in the chain. My CPU (RTAS) meter starts shooting up and down and spiking causing these errors to occur. Sometimes following the error I can't hear playback, I see signal, but can't hear it. I've tried increasing buffer size. Don't know what to do. Thanks. |

Re: Errors when using IK plugs
Make sure you've got the lastest plugins installed on your machine.

Re: Errors when using IK plugs
I find they run ok as long as your not changing patches during playback.

Re: Errors when using IK plugs
Yeah I'm all current with my updates.
It only happens with Amplitube and Ampeg, I can have 20 instrument tracks using SonikSynth, Sampletank or any of the other IK plug-ins and it runs fine, but as soon as I throw on Amplitube or Ampeg and start manipulating them (add a pedal, fx, or even use the tuner) my CPU starts freaking out causing errors and audio to cut out. I sent IK an email, but no response yet. Any other suggestions? Thanks. |

Re: Errors when using IK plugs
Try reducing the number of CPU's in the Playback Engine.

Re: Errors when using IK plugs
Seems to be running MUCH better after going down to 1 processor. Thanks very much!

Re: Errors when using IK plugs
Great to hear that!
Just so you know - reducing the number of processors doesn't really mean Pro Tools has less power available. What's happening is that the plug-in has some non real-time code in them and, if all processors are dedicated to RTAS processing, that non real-time code can interrupt things and cause errors. By reducing the number of CPU's dedicated to RTAS, you open one (or more) up to run the non real-time code and everyone is happy. That other processor is still working - it's just running code that can't be run on the RTAS dedicated processors. |
